Tour module round trip 8 days South Sulawesi (including Tana Toraja)

This tour module round trip offers a mix of nature and culture. In a gentle pace we travel from Makassar to the Toraja highlands with a few overnight stays in picturesque Buginese villages in South Sulawesi.

The trip goes from Makassar to the deserted and pearly white beach of Bira. Then you will visit Tempe Lake located in the former Buginian Kingdom. Here you will find the floating villages where the fishermen still live with their families. Then the journey continues to the Toraja highlands. The population here is Christian, but also still adheres to the customs and rituals of their animistic ancestors. You will stay 4 nights in Tanah Toraja, so you can fully experience both culture and nature. Tanah Toraja is a wonderful environment for a walk along the authentic villages with their gable roofs. When a ceremony is held, your driver and / or guide will report this and you can attend if desired. End point is Makassar again.

If you travel with a guide, you will have his full attention and he tells and explains you about the country and its customs. If you travel without a guide, your driver can find his way very good, but he is not a guide, speaks no or very limited English and will stay with the car to protect your luggage.
