Lumba Lumba Diving & Living

Lumba Lumba is located on the small island Pulau Weh in the extreme west of Sumatra, at the most Northwestern tip of Indonesia. The rooms overlook the beach of Gapang in the bay of the island. De rooms are clean and simple, equipped with a fan. Accommodation based on bed (without breakfast), There are several small restaurants on the beach at walking distance from the hotel. Staying in Lumba Lumba mainly means diving and relaxing. The accommodation is not bookable without a Diving package! The Lumba Lumba Living rooms can only be reserved & booked in combination with a Diving package. Pulau Weh is accessible per speedboat (1 hour) and ferry (2,5 uur) from Banda Aceh. There are several flights from Medan to Banda Aceh every day. More about Lumba Lumba Diving Centre: we are the only PADI Dive Resort in all of Sumatra and offer besides daily diving trips also PADI courses and introduction dives. For certified divers, diving is very flexible at Lumba Lumba. We usually do 2, sometimes 3 boat dives per day, come back in between for a relaxed surface interval which can be shared with travel companions that don’t dive. We always work with small groups with their own experienced dive guides, taking into account the differences in experience and interest of the divers. On our house reef an extra dawn, day or night dive can of course always be done just in front of our resort. NB we can’t dive on Friday morning – because of fishermen tradition, but then we organise in the afternoon an extra-late afternoon-trip. We’ve built accommodation especially for our divers: we have 7 duplex cottages with 11 stylish Living Room units to rent. The rooms are very spacious, clean, with a private spacious bathroom fitted with a western toilet, shower or bath (warm water), a table / desk, sitting area, a kitchenette with water cooker, cups, plates, cutlery, fridge and a spacious veranda with a sofa and hammock. No Aircon, but a good wall fan over the bed and a nice "green" sea breeze. For families / friends / diving club members we can reserve 1 full duplex cottage with 2 Living Room units and open the porch of the verandas, so that everyone can sit outside, but you still have 2 separate rooms with private bathrooms. An extra bed or 2 mattresses for younger children can easily be added in a unit. Our dive shop is right on the beach, the cottages are scattered in the country behind and next to the dive shop in a pleasant garden directly adjacent to the beach. Some rooms have sea view, others have a wide view of the jungle hill further away and a few rooms a more limited view of the garden. All units have free wireless internet access (Indonesian speed..) and in case of electricity failures we have got a silent back-up generator. More about the seasons: we dive throughout the year. For those preferring sunny warm weather, a calm sea on all sides of the island and good visibility March, April, May and September & the beginning of October are generally the best periods. In June, July and August sometimes waves on the west side of the island, but our beach and most dive sites are on the quiet north-east side, so no problem. November, December & January are the wettest months, but even then we have sunny days in between. Currents are the weakest in the weeks with crescent moon, the strongest around / just after full and new moon. We are often busy around public holidays such as Christmas and New year, Chinese New Year, Easter and July & August. Lumba Lumba is closed 2 days a year, on Hari Raya Idul Fitri (1st day of the sugar feast) and Hari Raya Idul Adha (the festival of sacrifice). Diving from € 18.50 per dive (with a multi-day dive package) Discover Scuba (2 practice dives) € 72 PADI Open water course € 300 Rental of diving equipment: € 5 per dive meer info more info Informations supplémentaires
