The Hindu island has a friendly population and is rich in natural treasures. Colorful ceremonies are held daily. You will find lively coastal towns but also little-visited authentic villages with their many temples. There is plenty to do and experience in Bali: cycling, hiking, cooking class or pampering yourself in one of the many spas. He will take you to your hotel. Overnight in Sanur. Sanur is a former fishing village on the southeast coast of Bali. This town is less crowded than Kuta, Legian and Seminyak. Day 5 Transfer and excursions on the way to Bangli

After you have checked out after breakfast, your driver and guide will be ready for a day of special trips en route to your new accommodation. It starts with a Barong dance performance. The dance is based on the never-ending struggle between Good and Evil. The dance is performed by the lion dragon Barong (the Good) and Rangda the witch (the Evil). Mudras (hand gestures) are used. Rangda (Evil) usually withdraws accompanied by gamelan music. In Bali, every dance has a social and religious background. The Barong dance, a drama, is a classic example of this. The masks and costumes are full of symbolism. More to the east is the ancient city of Klungkung, where you visit the ancient palace. The Pura Goa Lawah is a sacred cave full of bats on the southeast coast of Bali near Klungkung. Because thousands of bats live in this temple, it is also called "the Bat Temple". In Tenganan you will get to know traditional Bali. The double ikat is manufactured in the traditional way. Finally, your guide will take you to the water palaces of Tirtagangga, before being transferred to the hotel. Overnight in Bangli.

Day 6 Rural Balinese life and farming in the rice paddies at Undisan

Today you're going to the nearby village of Undisan. You learn how the farmers work their land and you will help them on the sawa. If the sawa has to be ploughed, you can even use the buffalo! You will also visit the local Dalem temple and waterfall and see local gold and silversmiths. Before you go back to the hotel you can participate in a music workshop or learn how you make Balinese offerings.

Day 7 Transfer and excursions underway to Pemuteran on the north coast

Today you will check out of your hotel and excursions are on the program, en route to your hotel in North Bali. You start the morning with a visit to the mother temple of Bali, Puri Besakih, a temple complex in the village of Besakih, at almost 1000m height on the slopes of the volcano Gunung Agung in east Bali. It is the most important, largest and most sacred temple of the Hindu religion in Bali. The impressive complex consists of 23 separate but connected temples, spread over several terraces with several Merus and pavilions over a length of one km. The exact origins of the temple are unclear, but its importance as a holy place almost certainly dates back to prehistoric times. The stone base of Pura Penataran Agung and several other temples resemble megalithic step pyramids, which are at least 2000 years old. It was certainly used as a holy Hindu place of worship from 1284 when the first Javanese conquerors settled in Bali (Source: wikipedia). At Kintamani you can enjoy a beautiful panorama over the lake and the (active) volcano Gunung Batur. Puri Beji is a temple dedicated to the goddess of rice. The temple is located near the village of Sangsit. The last temple you will visit is the Buddhist Banjar temple. Nearby, if time permits, visit the hot springs of Banjar. Overnight in Pemuteran.

Day 8 Pemuteran - free day

Pemuteran is a small fishing village in the northwest of Bali, located on the Bali sea. It is located on the edge of the West Bali National Park and near the beautiful sea gardens of the Menjangan island, one of the most beautiful diving locations in Bali. There is not much to do in the village of Pemuteran, but almost all hotels offer plenty of facilities to fulfill your wishes. There is nothing on the program this day. You can spend the day relaxing by the pool, snorkeling directly in front of the hotel, or book a snorkeling or diving excursion at the island of Menjangan at the reception. Overnight in Pemuteran.

Day 9 Pemuteran - free day

Another delicious free day. You can hire a bike or a moped at the hotel and be your own tour guide today. The north of Bali is very nice and quiet. You could also make a walk in the National park. Overnight Pemuteran.

Day 10 Transfer and excursions underway to south Bali

On the way from north to south Bali you will experience a day full of beautiful pictures of enchanting Bali: You start with a walk through the beautiful rice terraces of Munduk. Your driver will then stop at the imposing Git Git waterfall and then drive through the mountains to the fruit market and temple of the village of Bedugul. An hour later you will see the monkeys around the temple of Alas Kedaton. One of the most special temples in Bali, Tanah Lot is located in the sea. It can be very busy here around sunset. After Tanah Lot, your driver will take you to your new accommodation in Seminyak.

Day 11 Free day on the south coast

Around the hotel and on the white beach you will certainly enjoy yourself. Outside the hotel you find lots of nice small shopping streets where you can buy souvenirs for next to nothing. On the beach at Kuta you can take surf lessons or just relax and enjoy the sun and the sea.

Denpasar

Denpasar

Denpasar is the busy capital of Bali.
Besides some museums and the market there aren’t many tourist attractions in the capital, though you can do some great shopping for cheap prices.

Sanur

Sanur

Sanur is located directly on the Indian Ocean.
The beach of Sanur beach is protected by a reef at some 100 meters off shore, which means that the waves are much gentler than in Kuta.
Sanur is a quiet old fishing village with lots of hotels, restaurants and shops

Favourite restaurant

My own experience: Mades Restaurant, in the centre of Sanur. Delicious Balinese food and Indonesian dishes!

Mades Restaurant - Sanur

Bangli

Bangli

Bangli is a place in East Bali. The area around is beautiful and fantastic for walking, hiking and cycling. The village Panglipuran has a very nice temple.

The best activity around Bangli is spending a day in the daily rural life of the Balinese people. In the village of Undisan you can help to cultivate the land and suddenly you are plowing the sawah with an ox…

Pemuteran

Pemuteran

Pemuteran is a small fishing village in the northwest of Bali, at the Bali-zee.
It’s situated at the edge of the West-Bali National Park very close to the beautiful seagardens of Menjangan island, one of the most fabulous diving spots in Indonesia.
In the village Pemuteran itself is not much to do. But almost every hotel offer plenty of facilities to fulfil your wishes.
Pemuteran is a perfect place to relax a couple of days after a tiring Java trip.

Favourite restaurant

According to Vera, the tahu and tempeh goreng with saté and gado gado are delicious!

Warung Makan Nengah

What to see

Diving or snorkeling at Nusa Menjangan is the must-do in Pemuteran. Book at your reception a day in advance and you will be taken by boat to the island of Nusa Menjangan. We bet you will meet Nemo and some turtles?
Hiking in the National Park west Bali. Not the breathtaking tropical rainforest of Sumatra or Kalimantan, but you will always encounter some strange birds, monkeys, deer and pigs.
Dolphin spotting at Lovina. You don't have to stay in Lovina for the dolphins. Almost all hotels offer a dolphin excursion. You leave around 5 in the morning by car to Lovina and go there on the boat to the dolphins.
Turtle Hatchery Project. Within walking distance, between the Taman Sari an Adi Assri resort is the turtle center, where the eggs wait in a kind of hatchery for the young sea turtles to hatch. They are protected there for the first few weeks of their lives, until they are large enough to be released on the beach and choose the full sea.

Seminyak

Seminyak - Bali

From the seaside resorts Tuban, Kuta, Legian and Seminyak is Seminyak the most northern one.
Beach and hotels are much more spacious overhere and it’s much less crowded. There are many nice hotels and many private bungalows.

Favourite restaurant

In addition to the many trendy restaurants, there are also some good traditional Balinese. Made's Warung is one of the best known. On Thursday there is live acoustic music and on the other days from half past seven traditional Balinese dance.
