Tour module 5 days Pure Lombok

During this round trip you meet the ‘real’ life of Lombok. You visit colourful traditional markets and special graveyards which are believed to have magical powers. You learn to know the traditional Sasak people with their dances and their delicious food. You walk through stunning landscapes and visit weaving and pottery villages. Join us on this discovery trip!

Day 1 to Senaru, on the flank of the Rinjani volcano

You will be picked up this morning and driven to Senaru via the northwest coast. Along the way you can enjoy the view over the Lombok Sea and possibly grill a tasty fish. Along the traditional North coast, the Wetu Telu religion is adhered to, a mix of Islam and Animism. In the afternoon you will see the flanks of the Rinjani volcano. As we rise the temperature drops and we arrive in the mountain drop Senaru, from where many treks to the Rinjani start. The simple hotel has a beautiful view of the sea and the volcano. Overnight in Senaru.

Day 2 A beautiful walk and then to the north-east coast

Today you have a brisk but fun and educational walk ahead. One of the female guides from the village who has been trained by a New Zealand project is ready to take you and talk about everyday life in the villages on the north flank of the Rinjani. The residents here know a mixture of Muslim faith and traditionally animistic lifestyle. Through the small villages, the rice fields and the bamboo forest you can experience the area and its inhabitants in about four hours. A special walk with special encounters and surprises. After lunch, get back in the car and your driver will drive back to the coast. With some stops along the way, including the oldest mosque in Lombok (there are 1,000 in all of Lombok) you arrive in the coastal town of Labuan Pandan. Your hostess and host would like to welcome you here. Simple stay in Labuan Pandan.

Day 3 Snorkelling and to the southern flank of the volcano, Tetebatu

After a simple breakfast in the guesthouse, go to the beach and board a wooden motor boat. Your captain sails in just over half an hour to one of the Gili's (Gili is the Lombok name of an island) off the coast. Everything here is simple and the snorkeling unique. Enjoy the blue coral, which you hardly see in Indonesia. You will have until after lunch (packed lunch from the guesthouse) to swim, snorkel and relax before sailing back to the 'mainland' of Lombok. Here you get back in the car and your driver brings you to the mountain village of Tetebatu, on the southern flank of the Rinjani volcano. On the way to Tetebatu you will make a stop in Limbunan, a traditional Sasak village. The houses in the center are all made of bamboo, making it look like you have gone back in time. Overnight in the mountain village of Tetebatu, which is approximately 800 meters above sea level.

Day 4 Traditional Lombok

This day is mainly devoted to the traditional Lombok home industry. Today a walk through the rice fields and tobacco plantations is planned to Pringasela, a traditional Sasak village known for the ancient weaving techniques of the Ikat patterns, typical of Lombok. Before you leave for the next village, they prepare a delicious lunch for you. A warm welcome awaits you in the village of Lenek, where you are accompanied musically from the busy road to the Dessa and where some traditional Sasak dances are performed. On the way back to Tetebatu you will finally make a stop at the village of Masbagik where you can see how the pottery is still made by hand. Overnight in Tetebatu

Day 5 The water fall, end of the program

In the morning, before you go back to your hotel or the airport, we go for a beautiful walk to the Tetebatu water fall. Quite an easy 2-hour walk, but over a somewhat tricky cemented path, familiar to the more experienced Indonesia goers…. Here you can see the little black monkeys that live in the bamboo forests. Finally you make another stop at Water Palace Narmada before you travel to your next destination.. NB: if you have planned a flight on this day you should take into account that your plane must fly after 14.00. If you’ve booked a morning flight today’s program is cancelled and the driver brings you to the airport.

Pondok Senaru - Lombok

The small and cosy Pondok Senaru is located on one of the flanks of the Rinjani volcano. The hotel is a great base for trekking on the volcano. Less strenuous is a half-day walk along traditional villages and to the waterfall of which you have a view from the restaurant. Most rooms only have cold running water. Rinjani lodge - Senaru

The Rinjani lodge is located on the northern flank of the imposing Rinjani volcano. The 13-room hotel has a swimming pool and a restaurant. All rooms have a private bathroom, TV, air conditioning, minibar, kettle and free WiFi. Pondok Siola - Labuhan Pandan

Tetebatu Mountain resort

Small-scale new hotel built in local Sasak style - Overlooking the tobacco and rice fields and the volcano Rinjani. Simple but perfectly in harmony with the environment! Terrace available to enjoy the view. Hot water and western toilet - no air conditioning – which is not necessary, because of the high altitude it is quite cool. Senaru

Senaru is a tiny mountain village on the northern flank of the Rinjani volcano. It is also the end of our three-day Rinjani expedition.
Walking in and around Senaru is beautiful. The walk that we have included in our Pure Lombok tour has a mix of nature, traditional Sasak villages, rice fields and a waterfall.
Pondok Senaru is a simple hotel, with typical non-western conveniences: In our bungalow the toilet roll hung at a height of 2 meters and the mirror above the sink was also made at a height for basketball players. You can expect more luxury in the Rinjani lodge.

Labuan Pandan

This small fishing village in the northeast of Lombok is the base for a visit to the eastern Gili's Lawang, Sulat, Pentangan and especially Gili Pasaran and Lampu, where it is great snorkeling.

Tetebatu

The mountain village of Tetebatu is located on the southern flank of the Rinjani volcano. Many local cottage industries can be visited in the area. In the village of Loyok, wicker baskets are woven, baked in Masabagik pots and woven in Pringgasela ikat rugs.
