Day 1 flight Amsterdam-Jakarta

Flight with Garuda Indonesia. Depart at the end of the morning with transfer in Medan. Arrival in the end of the morning.

Day 2 Arrival in Jakarta

Selamat Datang, welcome to Jakarta! After you have passed the immigration service and have taken your luggage off the belt, your driver or guide will be waiting for you at the exit with a name sign. Day 3 Jakarta

Day 4 By train to Bandung

You will go to Halim station on your own for the new high-speed train Whoosh to Bandung. The train will bring you in about haf an hour to Padalarang or Tegalluar station, close to Bandung Here you take a taxi to bring you to Bandung city centre. Bandung is also known as the Paris of Java. It is a bit cooler here than Jakarta, for example. The city is located about 800 meters above sea level. Bandung still radiates much of the colonial past. Many buildings are built in Art Deco or Jugendstil. Overnight in Bandung.

Dag 5 Bandung daytrip Lembang, Tangkuban Perahu and Ciater hotspring

All day you can explore the surroundings of Bandung. You can book this on site at your hotel or book in advance at Merapi. Via the Geology museum, Mandala museum and villa Isola and the elevated town of Lembang you go to the volcano Tangkuban Perahu, which literally means 'the inverted boat'. You can hike along the crater there and expand it with a firmer trek to the Kawah Domas, a geyser-like smaller crater. After the volcano, you can visit the hot springs of Ciater. Day 6 Bandung citytour and music at Saung Angklung Udjo

You can take a city tour today with the Bandros Bandung hop-on hop-off bus. The double-decker buses pass some highlights of Bandung. such as Art Deco Street Jalan Braga, the typical Gedung Saté building and various other monumental buildings. The bus also runs along the Cihanpelas, which is better known as Bandung Jeans street. Instead of the bus, you can also do a city tour by bicycle in the morning. Together with a guide you cycle through the quieter streets of Bandung to famous places. You start at the Gedung Sate, cycle along former Dutch streets such as the Jalan Riau, Jalan Cilaki and end at the Geological Museum. You will then be picked up from your hotel to go to the starting point. At the end of the tour, you will be taken back to your hotel or to the music school Saung Angklung Udjo. Day 7 By train to the Borobudur

Wake up early for a nice train journey from Bandung to Yogyakarta. You make sure to be at the station half an hour before departure (08:40) for the train journey of more than seven hours. You travel comfortably in the air-conditioned Kelas Eksekutif through the Preanger Mountains towards Yogyakarta. Day 8 Sunrise on the Borobudur, further to Yogyakarta

Optional excursion: You have to get up early for a sunrise... Between 4 and 4.30 am your driver will be waiting and will take you to a mountain with a beautiful view of Borobudur. Once the sun has risen, enjoy breakfast before heading to the temple complex. The Borobudur is the world famous and largest Buddhist temple complex in the world. A walk along the more than 1400 reliefs will take you to the highest terrace of the temple complex where the Buddhas sit under a stupa. Day 9 Yogyakarta city tour

There is plenty to do in the former court city of Yogyakarta. Take a ride by becak (bicycle taxi) or with the Andong, horse and carriage. Agree the price in advance, so that you will not be faced with surprises. Visit the Kraton where the Sultan resides, the Water Palace or the birds market. Take a look at the Fort Vredenburg museum and take a stroll in Malioborostreet. There are numerous shops and stalls and you can enjoy the delicious street food in the evening. Day 10 Yogyakarta surrounding: bicycle trip

Enjoy one more day of Yogyakarta. In the early morning you can take a cycling excursion in the kampungs around Yogyakarta. You will pass rice fields, villages, temples and experience the middle Javanese life. Another option is to follow a cooking workshop. In the morning hours you go to the market with your cooking teacher to do some shopping and then prepare some Javanese dishes. During lunch you can enjoy your brew. Overnight in Yogyakarta.

Day 11 By night train to Malang

Day 12 From Malang to the Bromo vulcano

This day you have a car with driver at your disposal all day. After breakfast we explore beautiful Malang. The former 'Bergen neighborhood' is still largely the same as during the Dutch period. A visit to Kampung Warna Wira is definitely recommended. Local students have refreshed the former armetierige kampung with many colors. To enter the kampung you cross a glass bridge ... You can have lunch (own expense) in the nostalgic restaurant "Toko Oen", one of the few restaurants in Java where you can order a croquette sandwich. After lunch we drive to Bromo, a trip of about three hours. The Bromo volcano is located in the Tengger Mountains. Day 13 Sunrise at Bromo and onwards to Kalibaru

Around three o'clock you will be awakened to make a trip to the Bromo. You will be taken by jeep to the viewing area on the edge of the Tengger kaldera. Although you are certainly not alone, in the high season there can be more than 500 visitors, there is a serene tranquility at the viewpoint. Everyone comes for the beautiful and mystical sunrise. From the platform you have a view of the sand sea and its four craters and in the background you can see the volcano Semeru regularly blowing a thrust into the air. Bring your sweater and windbreaker, it is very cold in the early morning! After the sunrise, return by jeep to the sandy sea. Here you can walk or on a horse (about 100,000 rupia) to the foot of the Bromo. Via about 300 steps you climb the Bromo crater to look from the crater rim into the crater of the volcano. After the Bromo, return to the hotel for breakfast. Your driver will then take you in an hour and a half to Probolinggo station for the 11:00 Mutiara Timur train to the rural village of Kalibaru. Bromo

De Bromo vulkaan is een actieve vulkaan en ligt, samen met twee andere vulkanen in een zanderig gebied. Bijzonder is om de zonsopgang mee te maken op de top van de vulkaan. Day 14 Kalibaru

We’ve got all day to explore Kalibaru, situated in a rural plantation area, and its surroundings. Around the hotel grows coffee, cacao, mutmeg, vanilla, cloves and cinnamon. The jam you found on your breakfast table could be made of home-grown nutmeg. Kalibaru is a perfect place to get to know the daily life on east Java. You can go to the market for example, or to one of the many plantations around Kalibaru. You can also have a look in one of the numerous little home-industries, like a palm-sugar workshop. Day 15 By train to Surabaya or ferry to Bali

Around 8:30 AM, make sure to be ready for the 9:00 AM train to Ketapang at Kalibaru station. You can then take the ferry to Bali. Depending on your wishes, Merapi will arrange transport by car or minibus to your destination in Bali. If you want to leave Bali on the left (in this case on the right) you can sleep in for an hour longer and take the 10:15 Mutiara Timur train to Surabaya. There you take a taxi to Surabaya airport for your 19:35 Garuda Indonesia flight to the Netherlands.
